Editorial Standards

Editorial standards for source selection, current production claims, comparisons, corrections, and advertising separation.

By Daniel R. NorthcottReviewed August 4, 2026General information

Core standards

  • Current model and plant claims carry a review date.
  • Official manufacturer and government sources are preferred for production status and specifications.
  • Final assembly, parts content, ownership, and economic contribution are described separately.
  • Maximum towing, payload, range, or efficiency claims are not generalized to every configuration.
  • Reviews do not invent personal test drives or ownership experience.
  • Material changes are corrected rather than hidden behind vague wording.

Advertising separation

Advertising does not determine editorial conclusions. Advertisers do not receive advance approval of articles.
